Night in Chinatown Parade (Day 29)

Spent all day today in Chinatown again for the Lunar New Year. It was a perfect day to be outdoors and ran into a few friendly twitter and non-twitter friends!

After being in the sun for most of the day, I found a somewhat pefect spot in a nice shady area for the parade that is before my bu.t.t decided to fall asleep. So I followed the last few parade participants and that's how I ended up with today's daily photo.

P.S: IMO, I felt this year's festivities wasn't as grand as last year...but I'm hoping next year will be BIGGER since it's MY year! ^__^

2011 MLK Celebration Parade & Rally at Magic Island

The 23nd Annual parade began at Magic Island at 9:00 a.m. and made its way through Waikiki along Kalakaua Avenue to Kapiolani Park and the Unity Celebration, with featured music and entertainment, local and ethnic foods, a children's playground, community booths and vendors.

Many groups carried their own message of equality to stop human trafficking while others still hope to be seen by their character and not by their race. Crowd of mixed cultures and ethnicities was proud to celebrate the King's life and to remember what he stood for and how he changed history!

Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable... Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.
