Happy Kamehameha Day (Day 162)

King Kamehameha Day on June 11 is a state holiday in Hawaii to honor King Kamehameha I, the Hawaiian monarch who united the islands and created the kingdom.

Celebrations began yesterday afternoon with a ceremony and lei draping at the Kamehameha statue in front of the Aliiolani Building in downtown Honolulu. The celebration continues today with a  wonderful Kamehameha Day Floral Parade through downtown Honolulu and ends at Kapiolani Park. Following the parade, the annual King Kamehameha Day Hoolaulea (celebration) will be held in the park until about 3 p.m. Lots of music and food booths will be the perfect opportunity to enjoy the multi-cultural experience that Hawaii is especially known for.

We love Donuts! (Day 154)

Today, Friday June 3, 2011 is National Doughnut Day and celebrated on the first Friday of June each year.

So, in honor of National Doughnut Day, I bought the above-said doughnut from Napoleon Bakery. Overall...Daddy-to-be, Mummy-to-be and Baby G thoroughly enjoyed this sweet treat; Reese's Peanut Butter Ultimate donut. Our arteries...probably not so much!
