Discharge from the hospital (Day 222)

He's very excited and I'm very happy! The tubes going down through his esophagus into his digestive area were taken out and he can finally eat and drink. Instead of a sponge bath, he can finally take a shower. No more IVs and needles!

I don't have to commute between home, work, hospital and home. I don't have to spend the night and sleep on a very uncomfortable rollaway cot. I don't have to worry or feel stress when I'm not there with him at the hospital. It's been hard on my body as well as the pregnancy...now to catch up on more rest.

It's nice to have him home and I'm very thankful to the surgeons, doctors and nurses that have taken care of him during his stay at the hospital!

On his feet (Day 219)

He was encouraged to get up and walk along in the hallway by his nurse the day after his surgery. I thought that was a crazy idea at first but in the end it was all good. By day 3, he was more energetic and we both would walk together through the hallway getting our exercise in! We were exemplary patients to the rest...hahahaha

Sodium chloride solution (Day 218)

Continuous medication through intravenous (IV) solution used to supply water and electrolytes (e.g., sodium, chloride) to the husband's body since he cannot drink and eat after his surgery. He was also getting other IV medications and nutrition.

It was hard on me too...as to not eat and drink in front of him but I had to since I am feeding not only myself but his unborn child!
