a bad hair day

it is not easy being a girl!

i want a new hairstyle...actually I just need to trim it but then I want to see how long I can grow it out. no, i really do want a brand new hairstyle. but then again it's not cheap to have my hair done here. if only i was back home *sighs*

i need bangs to cover my huge and hideous forehead. and it seems that my bangs have a tendency to grow a tad too fast and go all out of *whack* after a few weeks.

i was hoping i could just ignore it but i'm tired of wearing a hairband to keep it out of my eyes *ouch* so i made an appointment to go get my bangs trimmed after work.

remembering how to use a kitchen...

I didn't know how to cook but quickly learned after arriving on this rock that I've grown to love and now call home...Honolulu. Before that, I was your typical pampered "only child" and my parents did the cooking...(oh how I wished it was still like that...)

Cooking...I didn't love it at first. I found it hard and seems like a lot of effort to put in just to make fried rice. Okay so I sound like I am exaggerating but for a college student, that's hard work! To continue on, cooking...develop out of necessity as eating out simply implanted holes in my pockets. But I am glad I learned how to cook as I started to enjoy it and am able to cook my Malaysian food whenever I get a sudden craving.

Then last year happened! I take that back. It actually started when I went back to college for my MBA in 2006. Because of our crazy schedules not syncing, eating out made things easy but not so much on our budget. Plus because it became somewhat of a daily routine and I had more than my share of stress to deal with ~ adjusting with going back to school while working...and then a wedding to plan...cooking was not a priority.

So now that things are back to being normal...I realize I should get back into the kitchen and cook. Hubby and I have added more than our share of calories and portion, so homemade meals will at least allow us to keep a better eye on what we consume. Easier said than done but I will do it. I need to get my kitchen mojo back...and let's hope I remember to press down on the "cook" button on the rice cooker!

tsunami warning

Yes, the tsunami warning sirens woke me up at 7am. And the one I heard was the second one, with the first one going off at 6am which I slept through. First heard about this possible tsunami warning last night following a massive earthquake in Chile.

So since 7am, I had the TV on the news channel, then my PC onto to Twitter for updates. Then showered, filled water bottles, made breakfast, lunch and dinner and also took some shots of Ala Moana Beach Park from my lanai.

At. 1:45pm - Tsunami warning officially canceled for Hawaii.

Don't judge me, but I may walk to either Ala Moana or Waikiki beach later in the day to check things out. Don't worry...I will be cautious and remain alert!
